Kingskerswell Alliance

Who are the Kingskerswell Alliance?

The Kingskerswell Alliance is a group of concerned local people, centred around the village of Kingskerswell, but acting as a focal point for any resident that wishes to support us in our campaign.

We talk to both local and national bodies who share our concerns about road building and its effect on the environment and quality of life.

What do we stand for?

We believe there are far better ways to tackle peak time congestion on the A380 between Newton Abbot and Torquay than building a bypass.

We do not believe that the proposed Kingskerswell Bypass (aka South Devon Link Road) is the correct way to tackle the situation since it is VERY expensive and would irreparably damage the countryside around the village.

We believe it is essential to tackle the causes of congestion with a package of proven, cost effective and sustainable alternatives to road building, combined with improvements to the existing road network. We think it is vital to protect our environment, make the best use of what already exists, embrace innovation and provide travel choices. Many people agree and in 2007, we collected over 2000 signatures on a petition calling for alternative solutions to be used and our current 'Picture Postcard Perfect' campaign has been very enhtusiastically received..
