(5) Don't be fooled

The bypass will not be the traffic solution you are being promised. Why not....? Because after the dual carriageway has been built, the proposals are that developers will move in and build 600 new homes, and that's just the first phase!

600 new homes built along "the economic corridor", that will equate to approximately 1000+ new cars attempting to use the surrounding road network. It's perfectly obvious that if new homes are built between Kingskerswell and Edginswell, then the commuters are likely to drive through Kingskerswell before joining the main road. So don't be fooled into thinking that somehow the village will benefit from reduced traffic. In fact villagers are likely to see an increase in traffic together with the additional noise, pollution and hazards that go with it.

This will become a familiar sight

Fields around Kingskerswell

This picture shows some of the land that lies between Kingskerswell and Edginswell. These fields would be lost to developers if the bypass was built.

In addition to the impact of new housing on local roads, non of the proposals being put forward have dealt with issues like the additional school places that would be required or how G.P.'s and local hospitals would cope with the increased demands they would face.
