Many people have expressed support for our campaign to promote the use of sustainable alternatives rather than building a bypass. Here are some of the messages of support we have received. Thanks to everyone who took the time to write.

"Campaign for Better Transport strongly supports the Kingskerswell Alliance's campaign for sustainable alternatives to the Kingskerswell Bypass. Working with respected transport consultants Steer Davies Gleave they have shown that the transport problems of the area could be solved at a fraction of the cost to the economy and to the environment, and without the need to wreck this beautiful part of Devon."

"I have followed the Kingskerswell Alliance's campaign for a number of years. I feel that they are sincere and passionate in what they are trying to achieve.

I wholeheartedly support their efforts to show that there are better ways to tackle traffic problems than by building new roads. Our countryside is very precious. We must preserve it for future generations and for our own quality of life. Peace and tranquillity are rare commodities in modern life, but are essential for our well-being."

“I fully support the think different campaign in reference to relieving the traffic problems through to Kingskerswell, Our Scout Group frequently use many of the facilities and superb natural landscape of the village including the Downs, to give our children a great start in life and learn respect for inspirational leaders, through fun and adventure and the thought of trying to lead 6 – 14 year olds across a busy duel carriageway means it will now put this amazing resource outside of our remit. If we want to continue building fast roads, large departments stores and lose our sense of community then carry on, but please think differently”

"Thankfully one local group, the Kingskerswell Alliance, have come up with a superb package of alternatives to a bypass which endorse regional and local planning recommendations, unblock the existing A380, protect the environment, and are only half the price of a destructive new link road.

There is now an urgent need to sanction viable alternatives to highway expansion, which actively help to decarbonise our local economy, and wean us off our dependence on the motor car since transport is currently the only sector of the economy in which climate changing carbon emissions are expanding.

The Alliance plan will help to develop a truly local sustaining economy non reliant on centralised food and energy by expanding public transport, opening new railway stations and improving our infrastructure for freight and commerce."
