Kingskerswell C of E Primary School children previously had a talk from Cllr. Mike Haines who spoke in favour of the bypass proposals. The school then decided it would be appropriate to invite a member of the Kingskerswell Alliance to also give a talk to the children. This would give them the opportunity to hear both sides of the current debate. Paul Bright, vice chairman of the Kingskerswell Alliance commented, "I thoroughly enjoyed talking with the children, they showed a lively interest and asked searching questions". The presentation included showing the children some OHP's of the likely impact that the proposed route would have on the village and maps of local wildlife sites that would suffer (maps provided courtesy of Devon Wildlife Trust). "The children showed an understanding about the many issues surrounding the proposal to build a bypass and were particularly concerned about the likely environmental impacts". The talk ended with the children having the chance to express their views as feedback to the teacher. |
