David Bailey of Teignmouth Friends of the Earth presents a cheque for £1500 to Gill Rawle, Secretary of the Kingskerswell Alliance. Also in the picture is Ken Pegden, Chairman of the Alliance.

In thanking the Friends of the Earth, Ken Pegden said "this tremendous donation will allow work by Transport Consultants Steer Davies Gleave to complete their project into alternatives to the South Devon Link Road." He added that "the biggest problem for groups like the Kingskerswell Alliance was funding their efforts to present a strategic well researched view that illustrates to local people and government other ways of achieving certain objectives. We have recieved considerable financial help from the Campaign to Protect Rural England, The Manuka Club, Lush Cosmetics and now Friends of the Earth plus donations from our supporters and we offer our heartfelt thanks to all".
