The long awaited planning application for the Kingskerswell bypass has now been submitted (on Thurs. 18th Nov'04). Sometime in the days ahead, the applicant will publish a notice in the local press. When that appears, you will have 21 days open to you as a consultation period.
The Kingskerswell Alliance would urge you to write to the address below as part of that process. The planning application will be heard approximately 3 - 4 months after the application date. If the scheme is considered to be controversial or if statutory objectors come forward (i.e. English Nature), then a public inquiry should be held. The Inspector at the public inquiry then reports to the Secretary of State for Transport who makes the final decision. If you are opposed to the destruction of the village by the building of this bypass, then is absolutely vital that you write and register your concerns within the time allowed. One letter per household will not be enough, we will need an estimated 500 letters to make the scheme be considered controversial. Therefore your spouse/partner should also write and you should encourage your friends to write. The importance of this can not be understated.
